India-born Suri currently heads Nokia’s telecom equipment business and is tipped to become the global CEO of Nokia Corp.

Finland-based newspapers said a formal announcement of Suri’s elevation might be made by April after Microsoft concludes the acquisition of Nokia’s handset business for $7.5 billion (Rs 46,000 crore). Nokia would be left with only telecom equipment, location-based services and advanced technology businesses.

Both NSN and Nokia spokespersons refused comments.

If chosen, he will join Indians heading global firms including PepsiCo chairman Indra Nooyi, Reckitt Benckiser CEO Rakesh Kapoor, MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga and Deutsche Bank Co-CEO Anshu Jain among others.
