L&T Q1 net profit more than doubles

Larsen & Toubro Ltd says its quarterly profit more than doubled as it won more orders from local and foreign clients.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd, the country’s largest engineering and construction firm, said on Thursday quarterly profit more than doubled as it won more orders from local and foreign clients.

Larsen & Toubro, which has operations ranging from manufacturing to software services, said net profit for the April-June quarter rose to 3.77 billion rupees (93.3 million) from 1.57 billion reported a year earlier.

Net sales for the quarter rose to 45.05 billion rupees from 34.69 billion a year earlier.
