Rupee weakens by 25 paise against dollar in early trade

The rupee today depreciated by 25 paise against the dollar in early trade due to weakness in equity markets and the US currency's gain overseas.

The rupee on Tuesday depreciated by 25 paise against the dollar in early trade due to weakness in equity markets and the US currency's gain overseas.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange market, the domestic unit was quoted 25 paise lower at 46.45 a dollar in early trade.

The rupee had closed higher by 8 paise at 46.20/21 a dollar in the previous session.

The Bombay Stock Exchange index, Sensex, fell 98.70 points, or 0.55 per cent, to 17,675.56 points in the early trade.
