Sidhartha Mallya quits from UB Holdings board

Vijay Mallya’s son Sidhartha Mallya has stepped down as director of United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd.

Vijay Mallya’s son Sidhartha Mallya has stepped down as director of United Breweries (Holdings) Ltd. The UB group parent company in a notice to the stock exchanges today said that Sidhartha Mallya who was the non-executive, non-independent director of the company has vacated the office on March 31, 2016.

The younger Mallya was in the news earlier this week when his father asked Twitter users to “slam” him if they must, but to leave his son alone. Following Vijay Mallya’s ongoing financial trouble, Twitter users dragged his son into the issue that forced him to come to his son’s defense.

The 28-year-old son of the UB Group chairman is also a budding actor, and is active on social media forums like Twitter and Instagram. Though studying at a drama school in London, Sid has been receiving some hate tweets for his father’s financial troubles which include huge loan defaults and outstanding payments to crew of the now-defunct KFA.
