21 chief parliamentary secretaries to take oath on April 10
The Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal will administer the oath of office and secrecy to 21 chief parliamentary secretaries on Tuesday next week, at Punjab Bhawan in Chandigarh. The portfolios to the CPS would be announced when they take the oath.
According to an official spokesman those who will be sworn in on Tuesday includes 17 MLAs from SAD – Balbir Singh Ghunnas, Chaudhary Nand Lal, Sohan Singh Thandal, Desraj Dhugga, Mantar Singh Brar, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, Mohinder Kaur Josh, Avinash Chander, Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Gurbachan Singh Babehali, Virsa Singh Valtoha, Amarpal Singh Bonny Ajnala, Pawan Kumar Teenu, Parkash Chand Garg, Sarup Singla, NK Sharma and Nisara Khatoon.
The MLAs from BJP, the coalition partner in Punjab government alongwith SAD include, KD Bhandari, Amarjit Singh Sahi, Som Parkash and Navjot Kaur Sidhu. Bhandari and Shahi are second time MLAs and also have been made CPS for the time while Navjot Sidhu and Som Parkash are first timers as MLAs and were taken as CPS.
From SAD, there are five first-time MLAs who have been inducted as CPS. They are – Pawan Teenu, Parkash Garg, Sarup Singla, NK Sharma and Nisara Khatoon. While Mantar Brar, Babehali, Bonny Ajnala and Valtoha who are second time MLAs are made CPS for first time. Interestingly Ghunas who is third time MLA has become CPS for first time. Thandal, Nand Lal, Dhugga, Harmeet Sandhu, Josh, Bolaria, and Avinash Chander are repeating for the second time as CPS.
