32 companies visits UIET at PU, 265 students get placements

As many as 265 students of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) have got placements in various companies during the placement drives held by the institute on the Panjab University campus here on Saturday. As many as 265 students of University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) have got placements in various companies during the placement drives held by the institute on the Panjab University campus here on Saturday.

A Panjab University spokesman said as many as 32 companies including Infosys, Aricent, Infogain, Deloitte, ZS Associates have visited the campus so far.

Infosys is learnt to have recruited over 90 students followed by Aricent with over 40 placements, Deloitte has placed 18, Infogain 10 and ZS Associates have recruited over 5 students in their companies. As many as 376 students are participating the placement drive.

"UIET alumni have spread across the globe and the institute has established itself as a brand. Out of the total registered alumni with the alumni cell of UIET, over 10% are settled abroad,"a PU spokesman claimed.
UIET director Renu Vig congratulated the students who got the placements in various companies. He also said the UIET was proud that its alumni have been placed around the world.

Vig informed the alumni were always keen to fuel the progress of the institute and its current students.

"The students of the UIET are also getting admission in top B-schools like Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs). Many of our alumni are pursuing higher studies from premier institutes from IIMs and IITs,"he added.

"The UIET has also setup an entrepreneurship cell to motivate and support students who want to be self-employed. There are around 18 startups and businesses started or led by UIETians, and the number is still increasing,"the spokesman claimed.
