Nearly 350 UT teachers are likely to be transferred in the next two weeks.The number includes 160 primary teachers, who, after their promotions to trained graduate teachers, will be posted at various government schools.
The promotion comes as part of the UT education department’s process of filling up vacancies in master/mistress cadres across various government schools in UT.
Government schools across the city have been facing a staff shortage since last year after 186 TGTs were promoted as lecturers and shifted to other schools.
The Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) has already speeded up its work to clear the promotions at the earliest.
“Orders for promotions are expected very soon along with transfer orders,” said department officials.
Besides these promotion cases, nearly 200 teachers- both primary as well as trained graduate teachers- would be transferred as part of department’s rationalisation process.
Director of public instructions (Schools) Kamlesh Kumar said, “The department has received several requests from schools for the deployment of more teachers due to increase in enrolment. The department is now rationing teachers: staffers from schools having a surfeit will be transferred to schools facing the shortage.”
On promotions, he said the. He said the DPC was working overtime to finalise the promotions and was expected to draw up a list within a week.
