AAP govt approves forming SIT to probe 1984 riots: TV

Delhi cabinet on Thursday asked lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung to form a SIT to probe into the 1984 riots. AAP cabinet minister Manish Sisodia said that all 281 closed cases and FIRs related to 1984 riots would be reopened.

AAP cabinet minister Manish Sisodia said that all 281 closed cases and FIRs related to 1984 riots would be reopened.


Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal had met lieutenant governor last week and expressed that an SIT should be formed to probe the issue.

Arving Kejriwal had raked up the issue after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi stated in his January 27 interview to a private news channel that some Congress leaders might be involved in the riots. Arving Kejriwal's support for forming an SIT has been welcomed by the riot victims.
