"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should apologise for an irresponsible comment of his minister," said senior BJP leader ID Swami here. The party demanded apology from the top Congress leadership, including its president Sonia Gandhi, he said, adding that "the Congress should announce Shinde's ouster from the cabinet".

Reports from Kurukshetra, Panipat, Yamunanagar and other adjoining districts said BJP workers burnt effigies of the Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi and Shinde.
