Netaji Subhas Kranti Manch president VP Saini has opposed the move of the centre to confer highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' on Subhas Chandra Bose saying that his stature was too high to be presented with such an award.
While talking to media persons here on Monday, Saini said the idea of conferring Bharat Ratna to the most illustrious son of mother India, who was referred to as "The Patriot of Patriots" by Gurudev Ravinder Nath Tagore", must be dropped for ever.
Saini said that Netaji had been a living legend for more than seventy five years and in the entire freedom struggle and that his patriotism could be compared to the likes of Mahatma Gandhi. "Netaji's sacrifices and contribution to freedom struggle are far above those who are presented with the Bharat Ratna," Saini added.
He appealed to the Modi government to re-consider this decision.
He said if the government was so keen to ensure justice to Bose, it should declare his birthday ie
January 23 as 'Desh Prem Divas' and officially celebrate it all over the country, establish 'Netaji Chair' in all universities to spread awareness about him and teach teachings among students, erect befitting memorials in the national capital and all provincial capitals and hold a special campaign in his memory.
He added that a nationwide campaign would be launched from August 18 onward to educate citizens of this country about the alleged air crash at Taihoku in 1945.
