Building collapse in Sec 17: Entry prohibited till July 31

The prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) were extended up to July 31 on the entry of the common people from the front and rear side of SCO number 114-16 which collapsed on June 8, and SCO number 117-18, Sector 17-B, Chandigarh, on the recommendation of the committee constituted to inquire into the fire incident.

While ordering the extension, deputy commissioner Mohammed Shayin said the debris of the collapsed building -SCO number 114-16- has not yet been removed and a structural consultant has been permitted to inspect the building from inside on the request of the tenants of the said building to seek feasibility of having access to the records lying in the said building.

The said report is still awaited.The order is not applicable on the police or para-military or military persons or any other government servant on official duties.
