Punjab Agro Food Corporation Limited (PAFCL) manages the storage centre and the losses are estimated at Rs 4.5 crore.

A spokesperson of the chief minister's office said that in view of the serious irregularities, the chief minister ordered the probe.

The PAFCL managing director had deputed a special team for verification of the wheat stocked at various plinths of the Mullanpur centre on September 7 and 8 and consequently an FIR was registered on September 10, against Mela Singh, plinth in-charge at the time.
