In an important development in the abetment to suicide case against Haryana MLAs, Zile Ram Sharma and OP Jain, victim Karam Singh’s son Rajinder Singh recorded his statement on Monday.
According to CBI counsel DS Chawla, Rajinder Singh’s statement was under progress and he had fully supported the allegations against the MLAs so far.
Jain, Sharma and Jain’s personal assistant Rajinder Sharma are facing trial for abetting suicide of Karam Singh on June 7, 2011.
Rajinder Singh, who is also complainant in the case, told the CBI court on Monday that the MLAs had taken money from his father for recruitment of three people and after the jobs did not materialise they were refusing to return the money. When he was taking his father to hospital he told him that the accused MLAs made him to drink some poisonous substance. His brother Narinder Singh had even recorded his father’s dying declaration in the last moments on his mobile phone.
Karam Singh was allegedly fed up of both Jain and Sharma as they allegedly were not returning the bribe amount totaling ` 12.5 lakh which they had taken in lieu of giving jobs to three people, which did not materialise.
The CBI’s chargesheet says that he had no other reason to commit suicide than the harassment caused by the MLAs. The investigation agency also says that both the MLAs used to take money for getting people jobs.
From Karam Singh, Zile Ram Sharma had taken ` 4.95 lakh for getting his relative Sunil recruited as constable. On the other hand, Jain had taken ` 3 lakh for getting Rajinder Singh, son of Karam Singh, recruited as conductor and ` 4.5 lakh from Sandeep, son of Chamel Singh, for the job of clerk.
