Five youths try to rape pregnant woman in Sirsa

Five youths tried to rape a 26-year-old pregnant woman in her house at Kumhar Mohalla, Ellenabad, on Saturday night. When her husband confronted them, they attacked the couple with blunt weapons and fled.

The woman said that around 9.30 pm, when her husband Pawan Kumar had gone to a nearby shop and she was alone in the house, five unidentified youths knocked at the door. When she opened the door, the youths enquired about Pawan. After learning that Pawan had gone out, they barged into the house and tried to rape her. The woman's husband and neighbours rushed to the house as she raised an alarm.

The youths managed to escape before the police could reach the spot. Pawan and his wife have been admitted to hospital.

Ellenabad SHO Hansraj, however, said Pawan was injured in a fight with some youths and no case of attempt to rape had come to their notice. He said the police would record the woman's statement on Monday.
