Four held for fraud in SSC exam

Police arrested four persons, including a woman, on charges of impersonation in separate incidents in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

Police arrested four persons, including a woman, on charges of impersonation in separate incidents in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

The accused were proxying for candidates appearing in written entrance test for data entry operators and clerks organised by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Those arrested have been identified as, Jagmail, Preeti, Sanjeev Kumar and Vineet Tomar. Police had also arrested seven persons for impersonation on Tuesday.

Police party raided Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 23, after receiving information that some persons have entered the school in place of actual candidates. They have also identified the actual candidates for whom the accused were appearing.

A case of criminal conspiracy, cheating by impersonation and cheating and dishonestly have been registered under sections 120-B, 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the accused at the Sector 17 police station.
