Four persons from Karnal including, a 10-year-old child were killed when a speeding truck collided head on with a jeep on the elevated highway on the national higheway-1 in Panipat on Friday.
According to the information, at least 11 others sustained multiple injuries in the mishap.
The 28-year-old Himani and her son Abhishek from Rampura locality of the city among those were killed in the accident.
An elderly woman Anita of Ramnagar and Seema from Rampura also died in the accident.
Police sources said that the victims were heading towards Sonepat to attend a religious function.
Panipat tehsildar Hari Om Atri said that laden with gas cylinders was coming from the wrong side and hit the jeep. He said that victims were residents of Karnal city.
He said that 11 injured were admitted at various hospitals and condition of one person was stated to be very critical.
Meanwhile, the accident led to blockade for more than an hour on the Delhi-Ambala highway.
