The cantonment police on Friday booked four Railway Protection Force (RPF) men for allegedly extracting money from a local scrap dealer.
The case was registered on the directions of Commissioner of Police (CP) Rajbir Deswal after the complainant, Raj Pal, informed him that he had submitted his complaint at the Cantt police station on June 12 against erring RPF officials, but no action was taken.
Sources informed that those who have been booked, include inspector Rajiv Nagpal and constables Dheeraj, Rajesh and Prem Chand.
Scrap dealer Raj Pal in his complaint alleged that RPF inspector had implicated him in a fake case in order to extract money from him.
The complainant alleged that Nagpal had taken Rs 35,000 from him to hush up the falsely instituted case against him.
SHO Jangsher Singh at the sadar police station said that preliminary investigations indicate that the complainant was falsely implicated in a case for purchasing stolen railway property.
The SHO said investigations were on but no arrest has been made so far.
