The police arrested a Gurdaspur resident for carrying 1.5 kg of contraband in Chandigarh on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Sarabjit Singh.
According to the police, Singh was found carrying 1.5 kg of poppy husk in a bag at a check post near Sukhna Lake.
Police sources said Singh made an unsuccessful attempt to escape and was arrested immediately.
The police also seized the contraband from him.
He was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody later.
The police registered a case under Section 15 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Sector 3 police station.
