In a meeting of the State Health Mission, the Haryana government decided to create a separate cadre of public health professionals with multi disciplinary education for better management of state-run hospitals.

Hooda said establishment of a separate institute with hospital and health management syllabus at PGIMS, Rohtak, would prepare the cadre of public health professionals with multi-disciplinary education.

So far, the medical practitioners were discharging administrative duties in government hospitals, thereby disturbing their professional functioning as a physician.

Hooda said there was need for bringing more efficiency in the management of government hospitals as it would result in providing better health services to the people.

He said Rs 399.07 crore has been provided during 2012-13 for the mission, whose main focus was to reduce maternal and infant mortality rate and check major diseases.
