HC relief to physically challenged employees

Giving relief to physically challenged Punjab government employees, Punjab and Haryana high court has directed the authorities concerned to identify posts to be filled up by 3% promotions from amongst physically challenged employees and to complete the procedure within three months.

Disposing of two contempt of court petitions filed by Disabled Persons Association and Harnek Singh and others, justice Surya Kant also directed the officials to grant promotion to such employees from the due date according to the guidelines issued by the high court from time to time.
Complying with the high court's orders, the Punjab government had come up with a policy for providing 3% reservations in promotions in Group A, B, C and D categories to physically challenged persons.
