The HC issued notices to the UT administration through advisor, chief administratorcum-finance secretary, estate officer, land acquisition officer, SI enforcement (misuse) and legal remembrancer for October 9, when they will to file a reply.
The notices have been issued on the petition filed by Sanjeev Gandhi, a Sector-8 resident, who had moved the high court claiming that the UT administration does not have power to impose the misuse charges with retrospective effect.
The estate office has issued 1,500 such notices to traders in Sectors 17, 22, 26, 34 , 35 and others. In 2007, the administration had increased the misuse charges from Rs 10 per square foot to Rs 500 per square foot with the enforcement of Chandigarh Estate Rules, 2007.
