HP Central University VC appointed as secretary general of AIU
The Central University of Himachal Pradesh vice chancellor, Furqan Qamar, has sought the consent of President Pranab Mukherjee for getting relieved from the varsity to join his new assignment as the Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

The Central University of Himachal Pradesh vice chancellor, Furqan Qamar, has sought the consent of President Pranab Mukherjee for getting relieved from the varsity to join his new assignment as the Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
President Mukerjee is the "visitor" of the university and the appointing authority.
Qamar has already informed the President about his new appointment and also sent a formal request to him through the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry to relieve him to join the new assignment.
The five-year tenure of Qamar, who is the first vice chancellor of the recently established central university was to expire in January 2015.
