Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), on Friday, termed the statement of former chief minister and opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal against independent legislators as 'frustration'.

HPCC spokesperson Naresh Chauhan said the independent legislators have been supporting the government on the basis of functioning, welfare schemes and development agenda.

“Dhumal statement on independent legislators is only his frustration,” said Chauhan, in a press statement issued here on Friday.

Chauhan added during the Lok Sabha elections, Dhumal was claiming to oust the Congress government from the state before and after general elections, failing which he was now feeling deep frustration and disappointment. “Dhumal's frustration is clearly evident in his repeated demands for the disqualification of the independent MLAs,” he added.

He also questioned former chief minister and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders that why they were restless if independent legislators were supporting the state government.

“BJP leaders should realise that independent members always support the governments on the basis of issues and this practice has also been followed in the BJP regime but the Congress never resorted to cheap politics on this issue,” he added.

On Thursday, Dhumal had hailed the decision of Punjab and Haryana high court's order of disqualifying the membership of Haryana Janhit Congress party (HJC) legislators who joined Congress in 2009.
