Assistant superintendent of police Hitesh Lakhanpal who led the team said the police lay a trap after getting a tip off. The accused told the police that he had arrived here from Ludhiana to supply the consignment to a local drug peddler, Dinesh Kumar. However, the police personnel deployed near the colony in plain clothes caught him and found the charas in 10 half-kilogram packets from his bag.

Police said the accused was a regular visitor to Kangra and had brought 2 kg of charas earlier also to supply to local drug peddlers. Meanwhile, police have registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and have arrested the accused.
