While Ludhiana contributed to 14.92% of Punjab's net state domestic product (NSDP), Jalandhar at 8.43% and Amritsar 7.43% came in a distant second and third. Shahid Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district, meanwhile, has the highest per-capita income (PCI) in the state, the data said
Among other districts, Barnala and Faridkot districts came in last by contributing to 2.17% and 2.23% of NSDP.

As for per-capita income (PCI), SBS Nagar district stood first in the state with a PCI of Rs 85,735. It was followed by Moga, Fatehgarh Sahib and Ludhiana. Gurdaspur district has the lowest PCI at Rs 49,807 in the state.

During the year 2009-10 half of state's districts, including SBS Nagar, Moga, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Barnala and Muktsar were found having the PCI above the state average of Rs 61,894, while the remaining 10 districts were below the state average. The primary and tertiary sectors, meanwhile, declined from 35% and 42% in 2004-05 to 33% and 41%, respectively, in 2009-10.
