Mercury rises in Punjab, Hry after rain

Minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana swung up a few notches today even as light to moderate rainfall occurred in certain areas of the region. The MeT department said that Chandigarh, which was lashed by showers this morning, registered a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

Minimum temperatures in Punjab and Haryana swung up a few notches today even as light to moderate rainfall occurred in certain areas of the region.

The MeT department said that Chandigarh, which was lashed by showers this morning, registered a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.

Hisar, in Haryana, also received light rains and recorded a low of 13 degrees Celsius, a jump of seven notches.

Bhiwani saw a four-degree rise in the minimum temperature which settled at 11.2 degrees on the back of light showers.

Ambala recorded a low of 11.8 degrees Celsius, up six degrees, while the minimum temperature at Karnal increased by four notches to 11.4 degrees.

In Punjab, the minimum temperature in Patiala rose by six notches above normal to settle at 12 degree Celsius while Ludhiana saw a three-degree rise to 9.8 degrees.

Amritsar was two notches above normal at 5.4 degrees.

Rainfall was also reported from a few places in Punjab.
