A mild earthquake rocked parts of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Indian-occupied Kasmir with the epicentre near Gilgit on Monday causing people to rush out of their homes at some places.

The temblor measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale was felt in most parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province and lasted about three seconds. The meteorological office said the epicentre of the quake was near Gilgit.
The tremors were felt in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, capital Peshawar, Malakand, Swat, Abbottabad and Gilgit at 11.30 am. The quake was followed by 3.9-magnitude aftershocks though there were no reports of damage to property or loss of life.
