Monsoon likely to hit city by June 20

Pre-monsoon clouds arrived in the city on Tuesday, bringing the maximum temperature down to 33° Celsius (C), six notches below normal, after light rain in the morning.

Pre-monsoon clouds arrived in the city on Tuesday, bringing the maximum temperature down to 33° Celsius (C), six notches below normal, after light rain in the morning.

While an overcast sky announced the arrival of pre-monsoon showers on Tuesday, the Meteorological centre has said there is a possibility of early onset of Monsoon, which is likely reach the city by June 20.

The weather witnessed on Tuesday is expected to prevail for the next few days. On Monday, the sky was overcast since morning. While the maximum temperature has fallen in the past few days, night temperatures have crawled up owing to increased humidity. The minimum temperature on Tuesday was 32.1°C.

The meteorological centre has predicted cloudy sky with possibility of thundery development or light rain in the tricity for the next few days. The maximum temperature on Wednesday is expected to be around 35 ºC, while the minimum on Thursday may be around 25 ºC.
