The National Students Union of India (NSUI) held a rally in south campus on Wednesday afternoon.
Over 400 students from PU’s north and south campus participated in the rally. Addressing participants, student body’s national coordinator Birender Dhillon listed the achievements of NSUI leader and former Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) president Chandan Rana and said that new candidate, Divyanshu Budhiraja, would take the legacy forward.
He accused Student Organisation of India (SOI) of indulging in money power and exhorted the students to not to vote for it. Jubilant party workers threw sacks of shredded paper from UIET building and also released the balloons in the air.
Later, the party workers, including presidential candidate of NSUI alliance collected the paper strewn and disposed them of at the directions of Dhillon, who said that he would not like students to remember the body as one that made a mess on campus. NSUI, like other student bodies, also did not let its candidates address the gathering. Dhillon did not introduce the panel to those attending the rally.
