Ongoing anti-floods projects to be completed by June 30: Dhillion

Punjab irrigation minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has set June 30 as deadline for the officers of the drainage wing of the irrigation department to complete all the ongoing anti-flood projects.

Punjab irrigation minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has set June 30 as deadline for the officers of the drainage wing of the irrigation department to complete all the ongoing anti-flood projects.

Dhillon asked the chief engineers to repair all sensitive points of Dhussi Bundhs, canals and other such places before scheduled time. He instructed the officials to personally supervise the development work to ensure quality and time bound completion of works. He also said that there should be no compromise with the quality of work otherwise concerned officials would be held responsible for any mishap.

Minister laid emphasis on the new projects for eradication of water logging and said that now with the NDA government at the center these kinds of projects could be got approved with ease.

He said that the irrigation department would ensure the timely approval of these projects from the centre.

Dhillon said comprehensive plan is being worked out to clear water logging in Muktsar, Faridkot and Abohar areas. Secretary (irrigation) Balwinder Singh Multani and all chief engineers of irrigation department were present in the meeting.
