Confirming the development, UT senior superintendent of police (SSP) said "We forwarded a request for the removal of the roundabout to the administration after we received a complaint from advocate HC Arora."

Following Arora's complaint, the police carried out a study of the area and concluded that the roundabout needed to be replaced by traffic lights to avoid the piling up of vehicles.

Speaking to HT, chief engineer of the municipal corporation (MC) Mukesh Anand said "The UT administration has to install traffic lights at the roundabout and then the MC will seek the chief architect's approval before removing the roundabout."
