Punjab govt gives drug de-addiction medicines for free

Free medicines are being provided to drug addicts in Punjab as part of a special de-addiction campaign being organised in the state.

Free medicines are being provided to drug addicts in Punjab as part of a special de-addiction campaign being organised in the state.

Patients attending the out patients departments of all community health centres, sub-district hospitals and district hospitals for de-addiction treatment are being provided free medicines, a spokesman said.

"No money is being charged for the medicines of the treatment of drug addicts," the spokesman said.
The list of medicines being provided free of cost is as per the guidelines and recommendations of the PGIMER, Chandigarh, he added.

The indoor patient fee at the drug de-addiction centers is for food and other facilities and all medicines are for free, he said.

The state government last week launched a de-addiction campaign.
