Punjab government today issued a notification to appoint outgoing chief secretary SC Agrawal as chief commissioner of Punjab Right to Service Commission (PRTSC).

According to the notification issued under sub-section 2 of section 13 of Punjab Right to Service Act, 2011, Agrawal would have to resign or seek retirement from the IAS on the date on which he assumes office as chief commissioner of PRTSC.

Agrawal would hold the office for a term of five years from the date on which he assumes office or until he attains the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. He will not be entitled for reappointment.

In an order issued last night, Rakesh Singh, a 1978-batch Punjab cadre IAS officer, was appointed chief secretary of the state in place of Agrawal.
