Satirist Jaspal Bhatti bereaved

NS Bhatti, retired chief engineer of Punjab State Electricity Board and father of actor-cum-director Jaspal Bhatti breathed his last on August 15 after a brief illness.

NS Bhatti, retired chief engineer of Punjab State Electricity Board and father of actor-cum-director Jaspal Bhatti breathed his last on August 15 after a brief illness.

He was 79. His ashes were immersed at Kiratpur Sahib on Friday by his family.

He is survived by his wife Manjit Kaur, three daughters and son Jaspal Bhatti.

NS Bhatti had an illustrious career and worked in projects such as Bhakra Nangal, Mukerian hydel project and UBDC Pathankot. He served in the UT as superintending engineer from 1983-89 and chief engineer of the Ropar Thermal Power Plant.

Currently, he was the adviser to national institutes such as Pushpa Gujral Science City Kapurthala, Punjab Bio Technology Incubator, and National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute SAS Nagar.

His bhog and antim ardas will be held at the gurdwara in Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, on August 19 from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
