Police laid check-points during which drivers of at least five buses were found to be driving without license while some buses were found ti be lacking the proper route permit. However, most of the buses were challaned for breaching the administration's directive of having a female attendant accompanying the students.

The drive was conducted on the heels of an incident on Tuesday where a school bus driver was challaned for drunk driving.

Commenting on the drive SDM Lakhmir Singh said, "We have challaned the buses and are trying to create awareness among the school authorities. If the lapses continue to happen even after our warnings then we will take action against the school authorities as it is ultimately their responsibility to ensure the safety of the children travelling in their buses."
