Sikh Light Infantry’s 25th battalion commanders’ biennial conference ended on Thursday at the Fatehgarh regimental centre in Uttar Pradesh.
Lieutenant general NPS Hira, general officer commanding, 11 Corps, who is also colonel of the Sikh LI Regiment, presided over the event. The commanding officers and subedar majors of all battalions of the regiment were in attendance.
The conference began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Regimental War Memorial to honour the heroes who had made the supreme sacrifice defending their motherland. The discussion related to improving the regiment’s training and welfare policies. The colonel of the regiment addressed a special Sainik Sammelan of 1,200 personnel, where he highlighted the regiment’s achievements and the roadmap for future.
He also gave away trophies to the units that had excelled in sports and other competitions. The recruits gave him a demonstration of their training standards, after which he visited Young Blood Shooting Range, a facility where many international and national shooters are honing their skills.
Sikh Light Infantry Family Welfare Organisation president Kiran Hira interacted with the soldiers’ families. The biennial conferences are held in every regiment and corps of the Indian Army as part of discussing regimental issues and bonding with veterans and serving soldiers.
