Soon, 10 new modern reservation counters at city railway station

Grappling with the problem of long queues resulting in undue hassle to passengers, the railway authorities have decided to open 10 new modern reservation counters at the Chandigarh railway station soon.

The railway station has been running four reservation counters out of a small place near its entrance for a long time.

The construction of these 10 reservation counters is going on at fast pace. Station superintendent RK Dutta said the work would be over this month these reservation counters will be started by October.

He said these counters will be equipped with modern facilities, which would allow the passengers to book their tickets in advance without any hassle.

Besides, work on the existing elevator is also going on. The current four reservation counters will be closed after the new counters start working, said officials.

There is only one reservation counter on the Panchkula side of the railway station. Despite repeated demands by Panchkula residents, no reservation counter has been added so far.
