Sukhbir meets top real estate players for housing projects in New Chandigarh
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday called upon the real estate developers to come up with quality affordable housing concepts, as the state government plans to develop New Chandigarh and Mohali as the country's most developed cities.
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday called upon the real estate developers to come up with quality affordable housing concepts, as the state government plans to develop New Chandigarh and Mohali as the country's most developed cities.
Presiding over a meeting with top players of real estate business here, Sukhbir said New Chandigarh would come up near the Union Territory of Chandigarh as the 'model city'.
On the demand put forth by developers to relax the density norms, Sukhbir directed the secretary, housing, to look into the matter and take appropriate decision in consultation with the developers. He said the issue would be resolved after detailed discussion with all stakeholders.
He said that Amritsar would also be developed as a model city in the next two years. "Gradually some other cities would be developed across the state with world-class infrastructure," he said.
Showcasing the potential investment opportunities in Punjab, he said that the New Chandigarh in the 'greater Mohali' area was also set to give a new pace to the state's economic growth.
