Kangra additional superintendent of police (ASP) Shiv Kumar said, “The bodies are charred beyond recognition. The victims are yet to be identified. The bodies appear to be that of two males.” He added that the police have recovered skeletal remains of one body, while the other was completely charred.
He said the accident probably took place in the wee hours of Friday. The police further told that the car was purchased by a local person from a Punjab resident, but was still registered on the name of the previous owner.

“The current owner claims that he had parked the car near his house on Thursday night. The owner found it missing the next morning,” said Kumar.

The locals, who first saw the burnt car, informed the police.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the case. Sources told that the police were suspecting the victim could be the carjackers, who were fleeing after stealing the vehicle.
