Chief secretary Rakesh Singh while launching the portal, Punjab Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System or 'PB-PGRAMS', described it as a step towards ensuring an efficient and effective public delivery system.

The government has started the online portal for redressal of complaints because it was difficult to keep track of the status of written complaints received from the people.

The traditional method of written complaints was cumbersome as it involved forwarding these to the department concerned and acknowledging the receipt to the complainant, he said.

Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal had suggested such an online system for keeping a tab on the status of complaints submitted by the general public, he added.

Complaints can be registered regarding non-delivery or delayed service and suggestions submitted to improve the service delivery system of the government.

The chief secretary also said the effort was a step further towards good governance and would bridge the gap between the citizens and the state.
