In her complaint to the police, the victim’s mother alleged that Baljinder Singh abducted her 17-year-old daughter on November 17, following which she approached the police.

With the help of the tower location of the accused’s mobile phone, the police traced Baljinder to Muzaffara in Ambala district. Thereafter, a police team on Saturday rescued the victim and handed her over to the family. The accused was arrested and would be produced before the court on Sunday.

Narrating the sequence of events to the police, the victim alleged that Baljinder raped her repeatedly over the past five days. Her medical examination confirmed rape.

“The victim’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. We have booked the accused for rape and under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act,” said inspector Baljeet Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Sector 5 police station.
