₹6 lakh, 60 boxes of liquor looted from vend in Haryana’s Yamunanagar

A group of men allegedly thrashed salesmen of a liquor vend in Yamunanagar and looted ₹6.19 lakh and 60 boxes of liquor on Sunday late night, police said.

Police said that the incident took place in Chandpur village at around 11 pm when a group of at least 20 men had a fight outside the vend, and soon a few of them started pelting stones.

The accused men also took away 36 boxes of country-made liquor, 24 boxes of foreign liquor, LED, CCTV cameras and other items from vend, the owner of the vend Mukesh Kumar claimed in his compliant to the police.

Police said that the incident took place in Chandpur village at around 11 pm when a group of at least 20 men had a fight outside the vend, and soon a few of them started pelting stones.

Mukesh told the police that he was at home when a salesman informed him about the attack.

“Nine men barged into the store and snatched ₹28,000 from my salesman Hari Om and thrashed Sajit, the other salesman. After this, the salesmen closed the store and left for home. The next day, we found that a lock of a shutter was broken and several items were stolen. Liquor worth ₹ 1 lakh was stolen. We also found that ₹2.70 lakh and ₹3.21 lakh, kept as cash collection of two days, were also looted,” Kumar said in his complaint.

Inspector Subhash, station in-charge, Gandhi Nagar police station, said that a country-made pistol, sword and other weapons have also been found at the crime scene.

An FIR has been registered against nine men under sections 395 (Punishment for dacoity), 452 (trespassing), 427 (mischief causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and Arms Act , the police added.
