AAP government failed to find solution to Mohali’s garbage woes: Mayor
Raising serious concerns over sanitation, the mayor visited the RMC point in Phase 5, where he found large heaps of garbage piled up
Mayor Amarjit Singh Sidhu on Friday inaugurated various development works across the city and launched a sharp political attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and local MLA Kulwant Singh, accusing them of failing to find a solution to Mohali’s garbage woes.

The Mayor, who owes allegiance to Congress, inaugurated and inspected various civic projects in Phase 5, Shahi Majra, Sector 78 and adjoining areas. During his visit, he interacted directly with residents, listened to their grievances and flagged several issues related to civic infrastructure and sanitation, questioning what he termed as administrative negligence in addressing ground realities.
Sidhu said that despite generating massive revenue through the sale of land in Mohali, the government has failed to provide even basic facilities such as a proper dumping ground for waste management. He said that claims of developing a dumping site at Samgoli remain hollow, pointing out that even the approach road to the proposed site has not been constructed so far, further aggravating the city’s garbage crisis instead of resolving it.
Raising serious concerns over sanitation, the mayor visited the RMC point in Phase 5, where he found large heaps of garbage piled up. He warned that such unhygienic conditions pose a direct threat to public health and could lead to the spread of diseases. He also accused MLA Kulwant Singh of adopting double standards and attempting to divert attention from pressing civic issues.
Taking his criticism a step further, Sidhu said that the people of Mohali will give a fitting response to the AAP in the upcoming elections. He urged residents to make informed choices based on actual development work and governance, rather than political rhetoric.
