AMRITSAR: Out on bail in a murder case, a man was shot dead allegedly by his nephew on Saturday at Ghanupur Kale village on outskirt of Amritsar.

Out on bail in a murder case, a man was shot dead allegedly by his nephew on Saturday at Ghanupur Kale village on outskirt of Amritsar.

The murder was a result of an old enmity between the victim and the accused, said police. The victim was identified as Gurdeep Singh, 58, of Ananpuri Mohalla here.

“Gurdeep was in jail for the last five years and was released on bail a few days ago. The accused, Amandeep Singh, aka Lalla, wanted to take revenge from Gurdeep for his father’s murder. The crime took place around noon,” said the police.

Gurdeep received two gunshots on his chest and died on the spot. The accused fled from the spot. The police have recovered the weapon used in the crime and have launched a hunt to arrest Amandeep.
