Chandigarh: 2 Himachal men held with 15kg charas from railway station

The Government Railway Police (GRP), Chandigarh has nabbed two alleged smugglers from Himachal Pradesh and recovered 15 kg and 84 grams of charas from their possession. The seized contraband is estimated to have an international market value of approximately ₹30 lakh.

Sharing the details, superintendent of police (SP), GRP, Nitika Gehlot, said that during a special checking drive conducted at Chandigarh Railway Station, a police team intercepted two youths on suspicion. Upon conducting a lawful search, 31 packets of charas were recovered from their trolley bags, weighing a total of 15 kg and 84 grams. The accused have been identified as Rahul, 24, and Ramzan, 24, both residents of Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh.

A case has been registered against the duo under the NDPS Act at GRP police station, Chandigarh. They are currently on police remand. As per the initial investigation, both are suspected to be members of an interstate gang and were allegedly heading to Maharashtra with the contraband. However, their exact route and other details are yet to be ascertained.
