Chandigarh administration seeks disciplinary action against HCS officer Chaudhary

As per the allegations, Haryana Civil Service (HCS) officer Chaudhary had deleted the condition of ‘life-time interest only”, imposed by his predecessors, while allowing mutation of an unregistered will in a property-related matter. Chaudhary is also accused of sealing a property without following the due process, when he got the additional charge of sub-divisional magistrate (SDM, central) for a few days in the same year.

UT adviser-cum-chief vigilance officer Dharampal said that as the officer was on deputation in the city and has already been repatriated to the parent cadre, the recommendations for disciplinary action have been sent to the cadre-controlling authority concerned.

When contacted, Chaudhary, who is now posted as Haryana agriculture marketing board secretary said, “As far as the transfer of property is concerned, it was from a grandmother to grandchildren. In the other case, a showroom was sealed due to building violations and it was a routine matter.”

Earlier in 2017, Chaudhary’s name had also cropped up in a graft case in which the Central Bureau of Investigation had arrested HCS officer Shilpi Pattar, who was then posted as Chandigarh sub-divisional magistrate, her husband Dheeraj Dutt, and a middleman GS Brar. The CBI had caught Shilpi and Brar red-handed accepting 75,000, the first installment of the bribe. The SDM’s husband was also arrested as 50,000 bribe money was recovered from him while 25,000 was recovered from Brar.

Investigations had revealed that the middleman had come in contact with Shilpi through Chaudhary. He was repatriated to his parent cadre soon after the incident. However, later, Chaudhary was exonerated in the case.
