Chandigarh officers told to clear pending files by Nov 30
The order also said that offices may be kept open on Saturday and Sunday so that pending files could be cleared in time.
UT adviser-cum-chief vigilance officer Dharam Pal on Wednesday directed all senior officers to clear their pending files by November 30.
The order issued by the adviser said, “After December 1, there should not be any pending file in the office chambers, personal branches and camp offices, which has not been entered in the e-office module.” The order also said that offices may be kept open on Saturday and Sunday so that pending files could be cleared in time.
On November 15, the adviser had directed all departments, boards, corporations, and undertakings of the Chandigarh administration to immediately switch movement of all the physical files (intra-department and inter-department) through the e-office module of the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and to discontinue manual file movement registers by December 1.
Setting an example for other departments, the office of the adviser had completely switched to the e-office module on November 21. The files, which were not sent through the e-office module were returned to the secretaries concerned, and were only accepted through the e-office module.
Vigilance secretary Yashpal Garg said, “Many departments have already switched to e-office file movement module. Two training sessions have been conducted, and another is scheduled for November 25.”

The adviser was visited the black spots at the Airport Light Point and UT boundary to access ongoing improvements and propose planning to ease traffic. Recently, ₹9.68 crore was approved to construct independent cycle tracks from Tribune Chowk to the UT Boundary and to widen the slow carriageway. Junctions are also being planned to improve the flow of traffic.
The adviser asked the officials to complete the work within the stipulated time and to beautify the whole stretch within the prescribed period.Officers, who accompanied the UT adviser included finance secretary-cum-secretary engineering Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Chandigarh municipal commissioner Anindita Mitra, chief architect Kapil Setia, and engineers from the Punjab public works department and Chandigarh municipal corporation.
