Hot and humid weather is expected to continue in the city through the week though a respite is likely next week, when the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain. The city’s maximum temperature rose to 36.6°C on Tuesday, from 36.1°C on Monday. This was 2.3°C above normal. The humidity levels touched 77%, adding to the discomfort. The highest maximum temperature recorded so far this month was 37.9°C on July 5.

The minimum temperature also rose from 25°C on Monday to 25.6°C on Tuesday, which was 1°C below normal.
According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 36°C over the next three days, while the minimum is likely to remain around 27°C.
