Chandigarh to Dubai flight to resume from March 14
Arriving at 6.20 am and departing at 9.15 pm from Chandigarh, the Dubai flight will have a one side fare of around ₹10,000
The Chandigarh International Airport will be resuming the Dubai flight from March 14. The IndiGo flight will operate four days a week – on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Arriving at 6.20 am and departing at 9.15 pm, the flight will have a one side fare of around ₹10,000. Apart from this, Air India Express also operates an international flight to Sharjah on Tuesday and Friday.
“The Dubai flight will run under an air bubble arrangement with the UAE till March 26, following which it will be a regular flight, as the central government has decided to resume scheduled commercial international passenger services from March 27,” said Rakesh Dembla, chief executive officer, Chandigarh International Airport Limited (CHAIL).
An air bubble is a special bilateral agreement between two countries to enable seamless travel amid Covid-19 restrictions.
Flights to Sharjah and Dubai in the UAE were launched in 2016 after the Chandigarh airport got the international tag. While the Sharjah flight was operating twice a week, the Dubai one flew on all days but Sunday, before the pandemic broke out in March 2020.
Since then, their operations remained erratic, until the Sharjah flight resumed fully in December last year.
Airport wins ASQ award for fourth year in a row
The Chandigarh International Airport has won the 2021 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) award for the fourth consecutive year in the 2 to 5 million passengers per annum category.
The airport has been adjudged the “best airport by size and region” for the fourth year in a row in the Asia-Pacific region and has also been awarded for “best hygiene measures by region” for the second straight year. The awards are announced by the Airports Council International (ACI), an organisation of airport authorities. The ASQ survey is conducted by the ACI every month, to measure passengers’ satisfaction across 34 key performance indicators, and the result is announced at the end of each year.
