Classmate stabs Class 12 student to death in Karnal
The victim had gone to school to attend his Class 12 practical exam when his classmate, with whom he had an old rivalry, stabbed him to death with a knife; he was declared brought dead at a Karnal hospital
A Class 12 student allegedly stabbed his classmate to death at a private school in Harisinghpura village in Karnal district on Thursday.
The 18-year-old victim, Viren, had come to school to take his practical exam, when the accused stabbed him with a knife inside a classroom. The school staff rushed the victim to the hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
The victim’s grandfather, Ram Phal, said, “The school staff called us at around 10am to tell us that Viren had been stabbed by his classmate. The accused and victim belong to the same village, had clashed with him a few days ago. The villagers had helped resolve the matter amicably.”
The family suspects that the relatives and immediate family of the accused were also involved in the murder. As the families of victim and deceased live in the same locality, police had been deployed in the village to deal with any untoward incident.
Principal Ashok Kumar said that incident took place around 9.30am. “ The accused stabbed Viren with a sharp- edged weapon on his chest. I rushed him too the hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.”
Gharaunda police station in-charge, Deepak Kumar, said the victim’s body has been sent for postmortem. “A team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has started probing the matter and is examining CCTV footage from the school premises.”
Karnal superintendent of police Ganga Ram Punia said the investigation was on and an FIR will be registered once the statements were recorded. No arrest has been made so far.
